1965 Dodge Custom 880

1965 Dodge 880 Custom, front Zanx writes from East London, England:
I was initially looking for a Dayvan or Blazer when the 880 came to my attention
for the second time on eBay, this time it was MINE!

After tracking the seller down to a UK American car forum, we began to haggle online and settled a good amount of cash and a bag of Cheesy Poofs. I was stunned by the total lack of rust on this car, might be something to do with spending 30 years in Millbrae, San Francisco.

Driving the 880 is like having a full week in a relaxation spa: I can drive for hours and get out at the end of the journey totally chilled, the engine barely gets above tickover most of the time.

This is my first old American car. I think it is the only one in the UK and from what I hear, there aren’t many in the U.S. either.

At 25 mpg, the fuel consumption is more than good for a 40 year old 6.5 litre engine.

She has some battle scars, I like them, they’ll be staying until I can afford a tasteful restoration.

These cars rock, ok so they handle like a Hovercraft but they have spirit, a certain something; the kids here love it, all we seem to get nowadays is sterility with little character.

We won’t be parting any time soon. 1965 Dodge 880 Custom, rear

Thanks Zanx!
