I have been a big fan of this Web site for years and wanted to share our latest and last project.
Having been an avid Mopar stock/superstock/bracket racer for 30 years, it was always my dream to own a 1964 Plymouth Hemi Savoy.
Well as time went on it became painfully apparent that was not going to happen.
So the next best thing would be to build the ultimate street-driven Hemi Savoy.
After spending 4 years looking for the right car, we found it in August 2002: an ex-superstocker, minus motor and trans, solid body with all the current certified safety equipment, tubbed, narrowed, backhalfed and just needing some TLC.
Before:
Now that the car was home and being totally dismantled for what we called a frame on restoration, the decision had to be made of who was going to build the HEMI. The search ended after talking to Tim Banning at For Hemi's Only.
The challenge for Tim was to build a Hemi which could survive on the street and propel this 3000lb car into the 8 second zone. (My goal is to run an 8.99 with a streetable car.)
The parts were chosen carefully and within the budget I had set.
The end result being a Hemi which dynoed at 900+HP/800ftlbs torque while still looking original complete with
crossram.
Although the car has not been run yet,
I'm sure this is enough motor to get the job done.
The car is in the final stages of completion with only numerous detail work to complete. We will write more later with updates on the performance and finished project.

Thanks Terry!
