1962 Chrysler New Yorker

Works in Progress

Sami writes from Finland:
My girlfriend and I own this 1962 Chrysler New Yorker
4 door. The Chrysler came to Finland in '62 as a new
Mopar. The speedometer is in Km/h instead of MPH

We bought the Chrysler in June 2004. The Mopar had spent 5 years in a garage before we bought it. When we got the New Yorker the engine was missing, all brake lines were gone and exhaust pipe had been sold.

I promised the seller that in one month I would have the Chrysler back on the road. So I had to hurry a little but I kept my promise.
In the same garage where I repaired the New Yorker is a '62 Chrysler 300 2 door hardtop, so I borrowed the engine (383) from that Mopar.
So in July the Chrysler car was running!

car shows in the late 1970's
and was customized a little
back then: e.g., it has a plastic
glass "skylight window"
in the roof.

The Chrysler's original drivetrain was a 413 cid with TorqueFlite 727.

Currently I'm looking for a 440 cid engine because the original 413 engine is missing and the Chrysler now has a 383 cid engine.

Why a 440?

It's really hard to find 413 cid engine here in Finland!

Thanks Sami!

413's are not plentiful across the pond to you, too! A 440 will work well in your '62 though.  smile!
