Jay Rod writes: I brought the Dodge from the original owner in 1984: a 57 year old lady. Six years before that, the lady had told her daughter to keep the car and the young lady said "I don't want that piece of junk" so the 500 sat in her yard all that time.
I came along one day and made her an offer, she agreed to sell the Mopar. The car was in real bad shape both inside and out: it had four different size bald tires, a broken motor mount, missing vinyl top, and a mice infested interior.
Yes, I got it going.
Most of my friends said to me, "Jay, you are crazy, that cars a piece of junk.
Well, the saying goes "One man's trash is another man's treasure" so in the garage the 500 went.
The rest is history.

Today the Poly's pushing 300 horse power. |
I started showing the Mopar at some of the car shows in my state, in the past 2 1/2 Summers the Dodge has won 35 trophies.
PS: In the past 20 years I have only seen 5 other 1965 Coronet 500 in my area, while the Chevy's and the Ford's are a dime a dozen.
Lastly, I've been a 1962 to 1965 Mopar Mail List Clubhouse member for almost two years. Getting involved through this Web site has been nothing but good for me. Talking to other members has led me to good deals and outstanding advice.
