1965 Dodge Coronet 500

1965 Dodge Coronet 500, front “Dodger” Jeff writes: I’ve owned my 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 since I was 17 and the Mopar had 27,000 miles.

I’m now 32 and the car has about 50k miles on the body, but being the car of a teenager for a while there, the Dodge has been through a lot: daily driver, pizza delivery car, flower delivery car, packing as many friends in it as I could in college.

I even hauled sod in the trunk a couple of times, as well as two small block Chebby short blocks (at the same time).

That made me get some SS springs.

The Dodge was wrecked once as the result of hydroplaning on a two lane highway, spinning 180 degrees, then going backwards into a 10 foot deep ditch at about 45mph and hitting a tree at the bottom. The damage was one broken taillight lens and housing and a tweaked, pulled out bumper. 1965 Dodge Coronet 500, rear damage

Now the Coronet 500 gets to relax most of the time.

1965 Dodge Coronet 500, passenger side The Mopar started out as a 318 auto, 2.94 open; it now has an almost stock 400 4bbl, headers, 3.73 SG, A-body disc brake conversion, electronic ignition pirated from about three different cars and trucks, dual reservoir master brake cylinder, dual field alternator w/ solid-state regulator.

So I’ve done the Dodge some good over the years.

I don’t know if the Dodge is “Gallery” material or a “Work in Progress” because I don’t think I’ll ever be truly finished with it....15 years down, eternity to go!
Thanks Jeff!

That is a great looking Dodge and certainly a neat part of your family!   smile!
