1964 Dodge 440

Works in Progress

Great web site!

I have been into Dodge trucks for the last 15 or so years and had little interest in the Dodge cars. I was at my favorite junkyard buying upwhat remaining 400 ci Mopar motors he had (4 running motors and 2 727 trans for $200) when I noticed a cute little Dodge over at his neighbor's house. I went to work out a deal on the motors with the yard owner (who was at his neighbor's house) and jokingly asked about the car.

It was for sale, sitting in the weeds.

I walked over to look at it (not really interested) with my fiance'. She stated: "I'd drive that. You won't have to buy me a Mustang if you get me this." (She has been wanting a 1966 Mustang for most of her life.)

The selling price of $300 was easy to take considering I was now off the hook as to where I would hide a Ford in amongst all my Dodge trucks.

The car has 44,000 actual miles on it.

            Motor is a \6.

I had a roll-off bring it home for me. I put in a new set of points and the old girl fired right up and idled like new!

I am now hooked on these older Mopar autos. Push buttons do rock! I am not going to molest the little B body. I plan on restoring it as it was originally built. Maybe I will do a little performance work to a 1965 \6 I have. Who knows?

However, I need front fenders, rear bumper, right rear quarter panel (?) and front armrests (blue/green). Anyone have these?

Update May 2006

Sadly I need to get rid of my 1964 Dodge 440.

I have found nearly all of the parts to repair/restore her, but too many projects and not enough room force me to get rid of some toys. Several have already gone and this is about the last one left.

If anyone is interested in it I will sell the Ddoge for what I have invested: $1,000.00.

I would like to see this car go to someone who is going to put it back together rather than part it out.
Welcome to Dodge cars and nice project, Tom! smile!

Re update: sorry to see the Dodge for sale, but that is how it goes at times. Someone will get a low mileage Dodge.
