Brian writes from Calgary Alberta Canada: After restoring and selling a selection of cars, I purchased my 1965 Chrysler New Yorker in Toronto Ontario in 1977 as the fifth owner. After restoring the New Yorker I decided to hang on to the car. In 1998 I moved to Calgary Alberta and almost sold the car prior to the move. I’m glad I didn’t sell the car at that time, because with Calgary’s dryer climate, I have been able to drive the Mopar more often. I still continue enjoying the countless hours of pleasure the Chrysler has given me. 1965 Chrysler New Yorker front
1965 Chrysler New Yorker passenger front After I finished the restoration in 1981 I entered the car in 4 car shows in the Toronto Area, and won 2 first place and 2 third place trophies in my class. What was pleasing was taking second place in my class at the Calgary Mopar Magic show in 2003 with the same paint job that won in 1981! (Yes that paint job is 25 years old!).
The interior is original and untouched with the exception of the tachometer and stereo under the dash. These seats are huge and very comfortable. The driver’s is electric, and the passenger reclines. Note that the seat back has a lower arch for lumbar support. Not common in North American cars of this era. 1965 Chrysler New Yorker interior
1965 Chrysler New Yorker engine The car has been mostly restored to original with some modifications that are bolt on items. I have kept all the original parts such as air cleaner, rocker covers, wiring harness, and wheel discs. Detailing of items such as the hood latch, master cylinder, exhaust manifolds, and steering knuckle shield, has helped to add to the appearance under the hood. Many of these parts were polished to bare metal and a clear coat applied.

Since I completed the restoration in 1981 I have driven 43,000 miles.
Most of these miles have been on dry roads for pleasure use.
This sure cuts down on the time spent cleaning the car.

1965 Chrysler New Yorker driver side This car has always turned the heads of other drivers whenever I’m out cruising. You speed up, they speed up, you slow down, they slow down! What has given the car a more majestic stance, along with a powerful look, are the deep dish 15 inch Cragar SS rims.

As I view the 1962 to 1965 Mopar Web site, I get the urge to restore another different car. Since I only have space for one collector car, I would have to part with my New Yorker first, and that would be tough. I can be found on the 1962 to 1965 Mopar Mail List Clubhouse.
Thanks Brian!

The New Yorker is a beauty.

The Chrysler is a perfect example of the power, comfort and highway grace of a big block C body Mopar!   smile!
