Mopar Torqueflite Transmission Operation

Don Dulmage writes: I am sending this information to help others understand the Mopar Torqueflite transmission better.


1. 2nd gear band
2. 3rd or direct clutch (also reverse)
3. forward clutch engaging forward (direction)
4. low/reverse band and drum for engaging
reverse and manual low (1st)
5. sprag for 1st gear in drive postion
Mopar Transmission

Second gear band (also kickdown,) is applied in second gear.
High clutch is on in high or third gear and is also used in reverse.
Forward clutch, is applied anytime the car is going forward.
Low /reverse band is used in manual low (first gear position) and is applied in reverse.
Spag clutch (one way roller clutch) is appplied (locked) in first gear when using drive.
(Low /reverse band is not used in drive postion, low gear,) just the sprag holds the drum from spinning.
