1963 Chrysler Newport Cyrus

We're long time AMC folks who
just got bitten by the Mopar bug. |

We're the 3rd owners of an ex-California car named "Cyrus".
Other than a little minor rocker rust, we are happy to report that it's not going to take too much to get Him back on the road.
The old 361 runs great and the suspension is still tight. Reverse was out so I'm doing a transmission for
the car and will get it in come Spring, 2004.
We hope to have the rockers and a repaint done before Summer 2004 and then move to some fresh upholstery as
necessary.
Think I'll just have to hang a set of dual exhausts on this one too!
Mopars are a new horizon for us and we're looking forward to taking our new baby out to local meets next year.
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this Web site! It's always inspirational to see what other like
minded folks are doing.
Update June 2004
Slowly tending to the transmission and other small mechanical issues. Funny how non-car things come along to slow you when ya get started.
Hope the purists don't freak out but, we've decided to move in the direction of a 60's style mild custom with this big boy.
We're (hopefully) moving to new quarters locally before Summer and should have room to begin in earnest.
Can't wait to start making America more beautiful by getting our '63 back on the road.
Update March 2005
We have finally obtained a spare pushbutton TFlite for the old boy. The trans is in process at last!
As an aside we also have inherited a 1953 Plymouth Cranbrook Club coupe - running and driving with 60k original - that makes a good
parts hauler for the 63. These darn MoPars are addictive!
Hope to have the 63 on the road for a little Summertime fun (at last).
Update May 2006
We had to sell our 1963 Newport Coupe Cyrus during a move we made about 1.5 years ago.
We couldnt stay away from the Mopars though and were lucky enough to bring home a 1962 Dart 330
Welcome to Mopars, Bob and Bena!
Starting with a big block highway cruiser like a '63 Chrysler is a great way to jump into the Mopar fun!
