Works in Progress

The Mopar started life as a regular plain jane run of the mill 1962 Dart 4 door 6 cylinder car.

Now it’s a rotisserie, nut and bolt resto. And I mean nut and bolt! My friend has more money and time in this car than you can imagine. He has performed extensive yet subtle modifications to the car just about everyplace. They are the kind of mods that make you look twice before you realize something is different.

Well, take for granted the whole body was stripped, epoxy primed, all sheet metal was is PERFECT everyplace with no rust at all (it was a VERY clean car to start with), everything on the car is new and/or rebuilt.

All the deluxe stainless trim that you see on the car is custom hand made. EVERYTHING, from the drip rail molding trim, to the C pillar emblem, the rear quarter stainless trim, the rear quarter gills, window post frame stainless covers, door latches, front window vent pot metal frame and lever was replaced all with custom made stainless that looks just like the original pot metal ones, etc. Just what came as standard equipment trim on a 4 door post is what's original.

He has transplanted a 400 engine into the car along with a 727 transmission. He figured out the K frame mounts since he retained the 6 cylinder K frame since it was mint. He mocked up the engine and trans and built the K frame mounts around that like a good old hot rodding engine transplant.

The paint came out spectacular and its just like a red mirror.

He is working on the interior now and there is a bunch of stuff he is customizing. He is planning on installing a shaker hood on the car, for example.

I will send a more complete writeup on the car later on.

Thanks, Domingo!

Your friend is going full tilt! Great project! Excellent craftmanship!   smile!
