1962 Dart Station Wagon

BailyGlide writes: Believe it or not, this Dart was built
by a woman out in Rio-Linda California.

She owned it for about 20 years.

1962 Dart Station Wagon 426 Hemi engine Originally the Mopar was a 6 cylinder. She put a 383 in it after while, then about 8 years ago put in the HEMI. It’s a 1969 Street Hemi, arias pistons, cal cam, intake is a ’64 race Hemi crossram, carbs are ’68 Holley race Hemi, 770’s the correct ones to run sideways. The owner, Geri Tarvin built the headers, elephant ears engine mount. Trans is a stock 727 with a hi-stall B&M converter, and B&M valve body.

The rear end is stock 1963 8 3/4 with 3.54 gears. The rear springs have been moved into the frame, and the wheel tubs increased by 3 inches on each side.

The most prominent feature is that the wagon was only offered as a four door. Geri converted this to the hard-top. She had a 2 door hard top, studied for a while, and went to work transforming the wagon into a 2 door hard top. And it looks like a factory job. No way you can tell it wasn’t done at the factory.

She sold the Dart reluctantly to Bob Johnson to be auctioned off at the Barrett-Jackson auto search program but was vetoed by the team Atlanta, thinking they couldn’t make enough for the show. My nephew saw it on his web site, sent the info to me and I went right down to Atlanta and picked it up.

Since it’s been back, I’ve redone the engine, built a lot more heavy duty drive shaft, new shocks and rear wheels and tires, plus installed a major league 6 speaker, 2 woofer sound system and just drive it all the time. 1962 Dart Station Wagon driver side front

Since then I have got to know the builder, Geri Tarvin, by phone, who has turned out to be the neatest person I think I have ever known. Her daily driver is a blown 392 HEMI 1942 Willys pickup. And she’s now almost done with a street driver Topolino B/Gas type dragster. I just can’t believe the things she can do. She’s a certified aircraft tech, a pilot and one of the nicest people I’ve ever not met.

Thanks!

A great story and a great car! Certainly this is wonderful way to make new Mopar friends?  smile!
