1965 Dodge Coronet 440

In 2003 I picked up my 1965 Coronet 440 in West Virginia.
Overall the vehicle was in excellent condition but needed
some interior work.

I installed new carpet and a headliner and in Fall 2004
I plan to have the seats upholstered. PPG identified the
existing paint as a Ford color called Electric Current.
From what I can tell the car must have been extensively
disassembled for paint work, because the color is uniform
everywhere and there is no overspray anywhere.

Even the poly engine was detailed and painted a combination
of orange with black trim.

The Dodge has 40,000 miles on it and is equipped with the
original 2 barrel 318 Poly engine, Torqueflite, A/C and Power
Steering.

I'm going for the nostalgic drag car look so I added the
Super Stock Hemi hood scoop and hope to have a set of Cragar SS
wheels on the car soon.

I always wanted a '65 and I'm enjoying this car a lot.

Thanks for the great Web site, it's inspirational.

Update July 2004

I've installed the Cragar's on my 1965 Coronet.
The rear tires are P275X60X15 TA drag radials and the front's are P235X60X15 Radial TA's.

The Cragar's are 15X8 in the rear and 15X7 up front.

I used Monroe air shocks in the rear for
additional clearance and side to side roll.

My next project will be the engine. I have one side of me that wants to play for a while with the Poly for the fun of it and another side of me that says go for a crate Hemi. Since headers are now available for the Poly, I may just play with this first.

I sure love my '65.

Great looking Dodge, John!

"I always wanted a '65 and I'm enjoying this car a lot." sums it all up nicely!   smile!
